7/8/2006 MyspaceEllo, I don't really look at this thing anymore :( I've given in to the crowd and moved to:
4/25/2006 Year 4 exam questionsFinished the job now, thought I'd post some of the more interesting answers.
Question: Here are two dogs. One is a male boxer and one is a female golden retriever. Can the dogs mate and have puppies?
Answer 1: Yes because 2 dogs on my street fancy each other and one is a different type from the other one and they have 4 puppies.
Answer 2: No because dogs don't always have sex to make puppies, some of them have sex like us for fun.
Question: Can a rat and a mouse produce offspring?
Answer 1: No because they can't fly. Question: Name an animal that plays a part in plant reproduction and describe what it does.
Answer 1: Dinosaur. It lives a hard life but eats lots of greens.
Answer 2: Long ears. Big. It chases cats.
Answer 3: Polar Bear. It stays inside the den for quite a few months and when the baby is born it keeps the cub in the den then lets it go out and play at the age of 6 months.
Question: How can we protect our teeth from decay?
Answer 1: Wear a bra on them to protect them.
Answer 2: Have a baby.
Question: A river travels through a plane. How could you fertilise the plants on that plane?
Answer 1: Take out all the seats so the river fits.
Question: This is a potato. Is it alive?
Answer 1: No because it can't have sex with another potato and make babies so where do potatoes come from?
Question: Write one source of energy the Earth recieves from the Sun.
Answer 1: It is going up and away because of wind.
Answer 2: When it is sunny we can go outside and run about as much as we would want to.
Question: Fred thinks that nine sixes is fifty six, but Sandra thinks that it makes fifty four. Who is right?
Answer 1: Fred because he is a boy I think.
Question: How does hibernation help animals such as bats to survive?
Answer 1: They hang upside down so their lungs are healthier than ours because they don't smoke like some of us do.
Answer 2: Bats are fierce. No-one can eat bats, nothing can. But bats can eat anything, and they can kill you as well.
"Thank you for marking my test. Sophie xxx
It's not your fault it was such a useless test. I want to kill you!" 4/14/2006 Stuff that's happened to me since I got firedWell lets see, first of all I went to Guernsey for a week to see my beloved one. That was a really good week actually, lots of sun, new pubs, dog walking, kite flying and looking for jobs for the Summer over there. The agencies I spoke to seemed pretty certain I'd have work over there, so that's a good thing. And I got to wear my suit again! X)
Immediately after I came back I started working for NFER as a marker of Year 4 (9 year olds) exam papers. That's been throughally rewarding so far. Some of the crap they come out with makes your eyes water, in a good way. I'll post the best bits once I've finished. But I left there yesterday with 140 exam papers I need to mark by Wednesday, they're using the trust system: write down yourself how long it took you to do them and they'll pay you that much. So I did almost no work Wednesday and Thursday (which were paid for anyway) and now I can claim more money than everyone else who only have about 70 to mark! \o/ The flip side of this being I'll be marking all weekend...
Going out is fun! ED, ed and I went to the Rising Sun Monday and had a rahter sweet night there, the DJ played every request at most 2 songs later. I got a 10 min Dream Theatre song, ED got Nightwish and ed got Bob Marley! :) I headed down there alone on Thursday too expecting the same night, but forgot it's live bands then. Saw an amazing 3 piece act called Blue Spring, they're playing at the TUC for their battle of the bands thing next Sunday (2pm til 11pm, come dudes!) along with Tears of Glass, Malefice and a bunch of others. But better yet, Necro are at the TUC again this Sat! I'm trying to get ED, ed and Photo-Chris to come down for Friday too, so it should be a sweet couple of nights.
In 2 weeks Tuesday is open mic night, I hope to be singing something with Bekki then something with Lucy if everything goes right, but as I've wanted to sing everytime it's come around but not managed to yet, I wouldn't pin any hopes on this one happening. Still it gives me an excuse to sing awfully to myself in my room without everyone else complaining. :)
I had also been planning on playing the 2v2 league, but honestly after Sunday, what's the point? If when everyone bothers to show up we don't play anyway so Goku can go and watch TV, I'd rather not waste my other Sunday nights. Hence I can't play this Sunday as I'm going to be eating a pie. And next Sunday I'll be at the Battle of the Bands anyway, so sorry Grome! :x
Mongaloid 3/25/2006 My medicationWhat has Funk been spreading about me now? A couple of weeks ago he'd convinced everyone I'd gotten married, now I'm greeted on IRC by this from wamp:
"new medicine has arrived to help you mong and joga! http://www.hetracil.com/"
You all suck! :( 3/24/2006 Oxford studentsTheir university is bloody massive!
And old.
And their student union is built on a purple turtle so they all get pound a pint night EVERY NIGHT.
Even on Snakebites.
With Black.
And just when you think ha, but at least all their buildings are in the middle of a town centre so there's no scenary...
You bump into the 6 or so massive playing fields back to back to a gorgeous river.
(Likely for cricket and tea in the park, gits)
I don't even like cricket and I'm jealous.
But at least they have to work hard.
I hardly worked at all.
And life is great.
And our purple turtle has a metal night!
And our Rising Sun plays DREAM THEATRE!!!!!
(oh yeah, and come to the Rising on Monday for some reason!)
Edit: Why do these spaces seem to like highlighting random words lately? Is tea THAT important... 3/13/2006 FiredWell it's taken them a week and a half with me on paid suspension, but they finally got around to firing me. Aww :(
Mong 3/5/2006 PSYKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONPsykOon Part 4 is now on the net at last, get it while it's hot. I'm working on a Filefront link to it as well so you don't need to register to fileplanet to download (but to be fair, I've never recieved a single email from them. Also the 3rd koon movie now has a working link on si-central. Hooray for me!!!
Edit: I had thought about putting it on that media player toy in the corner, but decided that it was just annoying really and removed it. :) Relationship stuffSo I got all terrified that valentine's day would go terribly wrong and be a disaster. But that was all worry for nothing, hooray! And I got a mountain of sweets too. :D I love Bekki so much, and this night was perfect with her. And I have now known Bekki for a whole year... feels like forever and a couple of months at the same time, it's an odd feeling, but nice. So happy Roj. :) 2/24/2006 Sonata Artica - UnopenedI love this song, I think it's beautiful, hence I'm posting it.
Another misspelled rhyme
written in the book of time In one page I've spent all my life Ink ain't even dry. I've been living in a lie? How could I trust in someone of your kind? And I got today another letter in the mail I can't read it here, not today And when years go by the unopened letter meets my eye I'm older and wiser, but still afraid What if I read it and it is - full of love How can I face it if I am wrong? Do you feel? Do you care about me? Did you wait and love all this time? I am here, would you come and find me does your writing guide me thru this all What if I'll read it and it is - full of love What if you'll tell me that I am wrong Do you feel? Do you care about me? Did you wait and love all this time? I am here, would you come and find me does your writing guide me thru this all Roj 2/22/2006 My dayI love having days. It's great, I get up to 7 new ones every week depending on how much I oversleep. So here is an entry on my day today.
I began my day, as with many others, asleep. Then I woke up and went to work, on time I might add! Today was odd in that we had the food testers from head office in today. Their job consists of bringing 6 large boxes of assorted bread and cakes into our store, eating them there, pouring themselves coffee, then buggering off and asking me to clear away the debris.
This time was a bit different however as they told us we could take anything we didn't want to throw away. Both of my managers were off today so it was just me and Duncan left at closing, he inturpretted that as taking a piece of chocolate cake and putting it in his bag, I inturpretted that as take everything still indate and packaged and give it to the homeless. So there I was, ready to go with 3 carrier bags of cakes and rolls I was going to distribute around town, SO proud of myself for being a good human being, and the store manager stopped me at the door and said he'd caught Duncan trying to take a cake and he hoped I was going to take all this stuff to Alan's desk so it could be thrown tomorrow...
So we talked, then argued a bit about it, as Hannah had said we were fine to take it. His arguement was that Marks and Spencer used to give all their left overs to the homeless shelter every week, then one week everyone there got severely sick off of their food. Marks then got sued to buggery by everyone they were trying to help, so now nobody gives to charity. A fair point (I think?), but all this stuff is in-date by at least 2 days dammit, not out of date stuff we can't sell... Meh. That made me angry, and I made lots of very pissed off noises on the way home.
OOOOOOO, and I got kitchen trained by Dee today :D, it was great fun, it usually takes Alan, Dee and Carol all day to do the kitchen stuff together because they just sit back there chatting away. I was there alone after Dee left and I had literally fuck all to do.
The evening was fun. Bekki made pancakes!!!! (on reflection, we actually had pancakes yesterday, but that's besides the point.) And they so rocked, my girlfriend makes the best pancakes. :) Then it was open mic night, I was supposed to be backup singing with Ed, Edd, Nick and Bekki doing the Monster Mash, but I chickened out at the last minute. I don't even know the song... i've promised to do something next time though, and I think I'm meeting Alex tomorrow to find likely songs :). Bekki did 4 songs in the end and she kicked ass. Burn the Witch especially was amazing, I REALLY cannot wait to hear her band play. Aubrey sung and played too, she too was cool to hear. Tom's set was as ever eye-wateringly... enthusiastic. I loved him. :)

Edit: I still can't upload pictures. Msn spaces sucks balls! 2/12/2006 DropzoneJon asked me to go to the pub tonight with him and Helen to meet Rob and I said sure. Next thing I knew I was at Dropzone, completely ruining my spend no money on drinks week. Although in all fairness I bought not one drink all night.
Dropzone rocked! The metal room was small, but cozy. Moshing with Jon to Eyeless there was the highlight of the night easily :D. The 80's electronica room I stuck my head in 5 times to see if they were playing anything I'd like, every time I then left in a hurry. The main room was fun to be honest, I danced to a lot of Drum 'n bass with Stu, Carey and Frank. One thing I'd never noticed is that Frank is a monster dancer :). Stu was as fun as always to be around, we spent a fair bit of time in the chillout bit spinning around on the leather spinny chairs going "wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee."
But back to the main room: There were a couple of girls dancing really impressively on the stage, I meant to compliment them on it but I couldn't find them later. Also another girl who bumped into me and smiled at me as if recognising me from somewhere but not being quite sure where, that would all be fine, except she did it 4 times through the night :|. Dancing with stevey P and Jen (FINALLY I KNOW HIS GIRLFRIEND'S NAME!!!!!) was sweet, just watching Steve dance is really relaxing, I think it's the huge grin on his face as he does it... But alas there were somethings there I wish I hadn't noticed. Rob pointing out just how short the girl infront of me's skirt was... you asshole. You could see EVERYTHING, and it really wasn't pretty. And then there was the man in the very tight PVC dress and pink fishnet tights... *shudder*.
When the night ended we got a free show in the car park, fire poi! :D 4 guys were practicing playing with nice big fire sticks to show off to everyone as they left, and it was impressive stuff. There was also a girl and guy doing fire poi, and a damn sweet guy breathing fire. I got a few photos but still can't upload them yet. Oh, also at the end of the night for the last song inside there was a man on stage dancing with this small bowling ball that seemed to stick to his arms, yet he could fling it upwards with the tiniest of motions to his other hand. There was someone at Synergy doing something similar with smaller balls on his hands, but this just looked amazing.
Lovely night, want to take Bekki to the next one :),
Roj 2/9/2006 The most embarrassing night of my life ((+ metal))First of all, nobody told me how bad the decks at the Sun are now. If I'd known, I wouldn't have bothered. One of them is fine, but the other one won't let you see how long is left on the track playing, will play straight into the next song without fail, ejects while a track is playing, waits a random interval before playing after you hit play, and won't play any recorded cd's (which was 2 3rds of my set out the window then). Oh, and the headphone socket on the deck doesn't work anymore, so you can't listen to anything before you play it, which worked wonders for me as I don't have a clue how the majority of the stuff I was playing ends, starts or how long it is...
So right, my set then. Started off wonderfully, I was laughing along with the decks, but was coping. There were 2 metallers there at the start making lots of requests so I played 3 of theirs out of my first 4 songs just because there were no goths there yet. That all went fine. Then, about halfway into the first set everything changed and I started cocking up repeatedly. Every transaction was dreadful. If I thought a song started with someone talking, it would actually start with a beat and it'd look like I'd just pressed play on full volume without even thinking about it, and vice versa if I thought a song faded in. I managed to turn the room completely into silence no less than 5 times!!!! (pausing the track playing, ejecting the cd playing 3 times, and kicking out the amp cable at the bottom whereafter I had 4 people looking over the decks trying to work out what I'd done and if I'd blown the fuse.) I left early in the end as I was sick of everyone staring at me pissed off. Simon was sweet to me though, he nicely calmed me down outside and ranted about the decks with me, then said I was still welcome to dj at one of the first nockternals when they get the new venue. I like Simon.
So then I left mostly miserable, seeking stupid amounts of drink to consume. I couldn't even call anyone for words of comfort as my phone died. :( But my night turned around then. I popped into the Monks Retreat just to go to the toilet and get 3 shots, and bumped into Stu and his mates completely at random. I had a few drinks with them before we moved on to the Turtle. It was nice being out with Stu, hopefully it'll happen more when he lives with Rob next year, but Rob living round the corner hasn't meant I've seen more of him :/.
The Turtle was dead when we got there, the dj had only had Ska requests and there was no Mettaler down there, so he was playing Rancid, Less than Jake, and Rancid again repeatedly. ((One presumes that's all the Ska he had, but he does play to please his crowd I guess, later on he played all 4 of my requests X) )) Not that I'm complaining, I love those bands and indeed went down and skanked alone to a couple of songs, but it's not REALLY what I wanted at the time. But then we met Helen and ((I forget her name, so I will refer to her as Vegan)) Vegan, and the 3 of us went down to get some metal in our heads. We were dancing for 3 hours solid, with casual visits from Lucy, Tom, Stu and those 2 crazy metal guys whom I love, but have only ever met that one Tuesday at the Rising... So it was all fun in the end. And Jon did get there, 5 seconds after we'd left at half 2. :P
Alex 2/8/2006 SoulflySaw them last night after Jon getting me a ticket last minute (cheers dude :D). We spent the day drinking our way through London until we were first in the queue! Rar! Then sat there drinking and singing Metal songs at passers by. Jon and I left the queue just before they let people in to meet Flemming and the rest of them got sent to the back for being too drunk :), priceless!
The gig itself was insane, Skindred rocked so much, the singer looked to have absolutely no control over his legs, he looked like he was on skates half the time, it was great! Soulfly themselves were similarly good, but I just couldn't get over how young Max looked... The guy had a huge history with Sepultura before he got Soulfly going, so how is it he looks about 25 :D. Every song kicked ass, would have been nice if they'd played more of Tree of Pain, but you can't have everything. The Skindred singer joining them on stage topped it though, was just perfect.
Oooo, and on the way back, how many people know about that Tops Pizza place by cemetary junction? Does a small pizza and a can for £1.99. Was WELL nice pizza, though it did leave me stinking of ham so I'm told...
Roj The Synergy ProjectSo last weekend Bekki and I wondered into London to go to a nice big hippy festival. It was sweet to be honest. A lot of dancing, music and relaxing, I really liked it. :D The first real thing we did when we got there was celebrate Imbol (excuse the spelling if wrong). This was done with a surprisingly spirited element dance, and the night carried on from there really, getting more chilled and fun as it progressed. There was a fair bit of rap there, but that was fine as there was also a fair bit of ska :D And the Trance main dance floor was pretty sweet. I mainly regret not getting to join the drum chorus while it was still crowded, but it was all an excellent night/morning regardless.
After that we went to Camden, and noody told me how bloody BBBBIIIIIGGGG that place is. :D I loved it, absolutely. The cyber-goth shop easily being the coolest thing ever made in the history of fashion. Cybernetic manequins with arms falling off them just made it for me. While there I got a funky new t-shirt and we got Simon his birthday present, so it was productive on top of all that, marvelous.
Everyone go to Camden!
Alex
